Twill is a tight woven cotton upholstery fabric that is known for its durability and unique finish. This light to medium-weight fabric is considered the best option for upholstery. Moreover, it is quite versatile and can be easily washed in the machine.  Twill is ideal for blankets, furnishing fabrics, curtains, light upholstery, sofa linings, and cushion quilting.

Canvas is the most popular upholstery fabric and it is known for its incredible durability, sturdiness, and strength. Both cotton canvas and 100% polyester canvas are widely used in upholstery projects.  The fabric is widely used in seating and lining. Made typically with polyester, fleece is also a good upholstery fabric, and for many reasons. It is known for its warmth, insulation, and perfect hand feel. It has been popular for upholstery for decades because of its comfortable and fuzzy texture. Some of the most common applications of fleece are soft furnishings, blankets, bed covers, pillows, rugs, and lining fabric. Microfleece is ideal for lightweight blankets as it offers enough warmth and insulation. Other common fleece fabrics are CVC fleece (poly-cotton), cotton fleece, polar fleece, polyester fleece, microfleece, anti-pill fleece, Sherpa fleece, and French terry fleece. Many companies produce fleece blended with different levels of lycra / spandex. It is available in both dyed and printed versions.
